Compton has been known for raising up talent, with the likes of YG, Kendrick, and more making their names known in the Los Angeles area. Enter Campanella Park native, YS. For the past year the 20 year old has been nothing but consistent with his music. Dropping 2 projects and 10 videos throughout the past year alone. Against all odds, he has done nothing but prevail. He has gained many cosigns from the likes of artists such as 1TakeJay, Shoreline Mafia, and many more. He has been buzzing on the West Coast for a while now and is currently expanding his sound globally.

The rising star has just released his newest project titled “Cold Hearted” with features coming from Sada Baby, Guapdad 4000, and WS Boogie. This is latest release after his highly addictive “Street Icon” project with platinum producer, Ron-Ron. YS has a sound that we have seen a lot of in recent years. A mix of hard aggressive lyrics, with a melodic flow. This is one of the most popular sounds in the game right now. Unlike most rappers though, YS puts a West Coast spin on the sound and really leaves his and his cities mark on every track.

“Hard Times” is the gloomy and dark intro that really sets the scene for the entire tape and it does an incredible job at doing so. “Shot Caller” produced by Charlie Shuffler, is the hit single that dropped previously to the tape. Featuring Oakland star, Guapdad 4000, the two go absolutely in on a melodic murder spree. “Souls in the Sky” is an ode to his fallen brothers and you can feel every ounce of pain in this track.
“Really In the Field” featuring Sada Baby is the hard hitting Compton track we're used to. The duo take turns murdering the beat talking bout their lives in the streets. “Killas & Demons” is a catchy ballad over a deep dark piano melody. In this track he talks about the life that he lives and how he isn’t scared of a thing. “9 X’s” is another catchy ballad, this time over a strong and depressing guitar riff. “Match Your Energy” is a track where YS talks about the betrayal and the fake that he had to endure by the ones that surrounded him that he thought he could trust. “Don’t @ Me” is that classic West Coast bop that we all know and love. This track really shows off the versatility that the twenty year old has. “Trenches” is another perfect example of the extremely popular sound that he is running. Partnered up with WS Boogie, the two do a fantastic job at calling out fake gangsters. “Life of Thirty” is the perfect outro to really top off the entire project. Another
dark melody that gets you to feel his pain before calling it all off.

“Cold Hearted” is out now on all mainstream streaming platforms. Go give it a spin!
